Wow – just came back from a fabulous vacation in Arizona and instead of driving back via I5 – we took the “back way” and came up Highway 395 – which takes you on an amazing drive along the back side of the Sierras. You go through some interesting alpine towns such as Lone Pine, Bishop and Independence. Bishop is a quaint town with interesting shops and the most wonderful Bakery (Schat’s Bakkery) – it’s a “must stop” when driving up 395. There are also numerous pull off spots for views/hiking etc. So much to do! So, next time you are driving from the Los Angeles area to Oregon – cut across to 395 and enjoy the wonderful scenery!
